Happy New Year!

Happy New Years boys! Lets make some more memories this year out doing what we do best!
Catching fish, telling stories, and nursing hangovers. On second thought, lets try and limit the hangovers.

JBFC 2010 ( Going Old School )

Looks like most people want to have the JBFC in May. So I'm going to get the ball rolling on setting some dates. How about during the week of May 16-22 or 23-29. Should we have it for a week or for 4-5 days? Let me know what you fellers can do and we'll go for there.
Lets make this years trip as simple as the one we had in 99'. Lets try and get the happy bearded guy in the pic above back to N.S. if possible so we can put that crazy smile back on his furry face!

Lifetime trips to begin!

We have all talked about a list of places that we would like to visit and fish, I guess you could call it our flyfishing bucket list. Mark is thinking Iceland would be a good start to this and I agree. I think we should put some serious thought into making these trips happen ever couple of years! These will be trips of a lifetime for both the travel, and the fishing. Obviously not all of us will always be able to afford these trip but when we can they will be memories for life!!

We have had great years of the JBFC trips and the trip to Alberta always stands out. This is what we need to do more of!! We hope to return the JBFC trip back to its roots.

We are not getting any younger and really should live life day to day while we can! Below are a list of trips I would like to do, in no particular order. If anyone has any suggestion (from internet world) please add a comment.

Iceland - for trout, char and salmon
Labrador - for huge native brookies
Patagonia - for monster brown trout
Alberta/BC - Heli in for 30+ bulls and remote cutts
Cuba - Lounging for Large Mouth Bass and fish some flats for bonefish

-10 today. Thought I'd put this great shot of Mark on the St. Mary's on my desk top to remind me how much I'm not fishing for the next 6 months!

River Oaks Camp weekend

Me, Barrie, Mike, Joe, Fenwick and Dave Dunne went down to the camp to do some hunting and do a little work on the camp. Installed a new heater in the kitchen for Carol and a new storm door for Barrie. Cooked up a big moose roast that Lochey shot last week and had a few beer's too. Had our first taste of snow friday night on the drive down.

JBFC Post results for 2010 location.

After review of the poll taken on our site it is clear that most of us would like to have the 2010 JBFC @ River Oaks Camp. It's time to get the ball rolling on getting Max to attend this trip. If he can't make it,. I think we should plan a seperate trip to N.Y. to visit him for a weekend. AND, if he's coming home for x-mas we should at least plan for one night @ the camp.
I suggest we have a trip meeting at the camp on Nov. 7th & 8th if the camp is available to talk about trip plans and do any camp work that needs to be done. Hopefully this date gives everyone enough time to plan that weekend free.

Mark

PS- A new poll has been posted on the site to vote for which month to have the JBFC.

My 1st time @ Cabelas

Here's a few pics of my trip to Cabelas in Maine. It was a really nice store but there is more selection on-line. They had a laser shooting range that was fun and a really nice aquarium. The fly shop part of the store was fairly small compared to the gun and hunting acc. department. All in all it was fun and I would say well worth stopping in if you've never been.
