St Mary's Code of Ethics

"THE CODE"

Pay close attention to #12 due to the amount of fish we have caught in previous years!

1. Observe all fishing laws, report violations.

2. Release smolt and parr carefully.

3. Be considerate of private property.

4. Keep our rivers free from trash.

5. Help the novice by example and advice.

6. Rotate the pool.

7. Respect another fisherman's raise.

8. When another angler has hooked a fish, reel in until the fish has been landed or released.

9. Be willing to help land a fish when asked.

10. Do not disturb salmon waters unduly.

11. We encourage the use of barbless hooks.

12. Obey the four fish hook and release per day ruling.

The Code of Ethics is distributed on cards provided from a Fund established in 1991 by the friends of well known Sherbrooke guide and angler Lockie Weir, in his memory, to promote courtesy among anglers on the river.

The Spirit of "Ray Tuddover"

Once upon a time, 10 years ago , there was a man who wandered the elusive forrest surrounding Trout Lake. From time to time he would travel to far away destinations such as Roxbury New York; Nordegg Alberta, and the Mersey River in southern Nova Scotia. He was a hideous man who resembled Keith Richards after a 3 week bender. Usually on a Friday or Saturday night, he would arrive unannounced to many unsuspecting fishermen to rage havoc and sing songs about other men's wives and drunken adventures. He was a man who could creep in to your soul for 6 or 7 hours, then wham!,you wake up in a wood pile or a fish bucket unaware of the night before. To this man I raise my glass and hope to never see again,

til the St. Mary's River where he has taken up new residence to corrupt the minds of unexpecting fishermen. He is the original "Devilman"
