2009 JBFC Biggest Fish Champion

Photo: Phil in Alberta with a nice cutty!

The winner of this years biggest fish trophy was Phil Hatcher. He took home the prize with a nice 11 inch trout. Phil will be presented the "Nathan Smith Memorial Trophy" during our next trip to River Oaks Camp. Congrats to Phil on becoming the first 3-time winner of the contest.

Woodsmen Weekend @ River Oaks Camp!

We need wood cut and split down at the camp, we're running low. I say we should plan a weekend that's works for everyone. It would be nice to do it soon but I don't think that's going to happen. So lets shoot for late August or maybe late September. I took a trip down to the camp today and the wood pile is crazy low. I don't know if we'll have dry wood for the winter unless we buy a chord or 2. My suggestion is September 12th & 13th, this is Jay's B-day weekend, maybe it will work for everyone. And I want worker bees, so Ryan and Phil & Jay have to be able to make it. Barrie, your the super on the job so don't take any shit off of these guys. Let me know what you guys think.

Last weekend for Salmon on the St. Mary's!

I sure hope one member of the JBFC is landing a nice 36" Salmon right now since it's the last weekend of the season on the river. Barrie, let everyone know how the season went once you get a chance.

Pokemouche Story

Matt J ran into a guy in Fredricton the day we got back who was excited to hear we went to the Pokemouche. According to him, and in total agreement with Joe and his family, the Pokemouche River is some of the best brook trout fishing in Canada. I cry at the thought and dream of the day I hit that river primed for a fly rod. I hope some of the boys get to take it on again soon and post some pictures of what we missed by only a few days. Thanks Joe for giving us the chance. No one controls the weather and as with many JBFC's, we have met advisary in catching the big ones (sometimes we catch them but can't land them......). I look forward to sharing a drink with you and the rest of the girls when we meet again. Please get someone on that river, not Jason or Marky, and into a 5 pounder this year and post the pictures. I could use a good bout of fish porn anyway!

JBFC 2009- Rained out but partied hard!

The 3 Wise Men
The Chefs

Pokemouche River a little dirty!

This years trip was a laugh and a half with old Matt J. and Jeffy K. leading the way with daily staggers and stories of old. The fishing was hard and only a few small trout were caught. All in all everyone had a good time. On behalf of the JBFC founding member & official members I would like to thank Joe for inviting us up to his fathers camp and showing us around the river. Also we would like to thank Joe's dad for the use of his camp. Thanks to the chefs and all who contributed to the meals as well.

During this trip I heard rumors of having the 2010 JBFC at River Oaks Camp during the Salmon season on the St. Mary's River, I'm excited already!
