Fuck you red neck Alberta!

Here's to Alberta! Hello
NS & NB.

Change of plans. Heading to Halifax with
Liam now who has a bad virus that can't
be spread to his cousin. I'll be heading up
Friday night with Phil to NB. I need the
instructions to the camp for Matt J. Can
someone post them plese?

Monday, June 22, 2009

Jason, its your issue posted this month on the Candian Fly Fisher magazine website Showcase section. I'll have to get them to post another picture for the next issue of me thanking you for tying the fly the allows me to win the JBFC 2009. I wonder which one it will end up being? As long as I'm throwing it, I guess I don't care. A large Bow River streamer would be nice. I'm still sticking with my hopper story at night fall on the surface to take the cake. I've should have Ryan thinking about throwing egg patterns by now! Good luck to all of you. This is going to be one to remember.

Felt Bad Keeping This One To Myself!

Here is all I'm saying.

Sucker fish spawn
Egg imitations

Good luck in NB. It's on biotches!

Next Year!

Underwater Digital

ChemTreat needed a small digital camera for equipment inspections. I thought water proof (steam drum or bottom of boiler mud drum) would be a good idea. Not only water proof, but to 10 feet. So, hoepfully we can get some underwater footage of a few large brookies, maybe a couple shots of hatching nymphs, or maybe a shot of a few flies from below looking up. No Mark, the camera is not available for midnight skinny dips with Ryan!

New Favourite Dry Fly

Anyone know what this is? It's not small. Closest I can find would be an X Caddis. It's midnight here on Friday night. While Ryan is out getting hammered, I'm studying. Watch out Horning!

Map To JBFC 2009 For Ryan

Don't want to include your fishing buddies for the
big small mouth in Bridgewater, no problem. Here
is a map to the JBFC this year. Only takes about
19 hours from your house. Bit of a round about way
of getting there. Don't worry, we'll still be there on
Tuesday when you finally show up. Don't ask us what
flies are working or where to catch the large fish. You're
own your own poncho!

Practising

Fishing in Alberta. All I need now is the beer!

Nice stretch.

Fresh bear print jeading down stream in front of
me. Didn't see him. Heard a lot of stories this year
of bear (grizzly's) making their way in and around
Nordegg and Caroline with no rain and nothing green
to eat (berries, etc).

Getting tight.

Decided I needed some practise today so headed west. I heard a salmon fly hatch was on at Prairie and the Clearwater. Went to the Clearwater off HWY 22 south of Rocky. A bit high and starting to milk up with run off. Pouring rain. Saw and caught nothing. Hit Stauffer next. New section one bridge up from DU bridge. I have experienced so far this year and also heard around that people are spooking fish on Stauffer this year but not many being caught. I had a great night chasing little browns (12-16") on dries on very still clear water. Hit three or four hatches. Always seemed to be a good number of mayfly around. Again, no big fish anywhere. Actually caught a little brookie just before I left. Maybe 6-8 fish in all. Only missed one. Used a few new flies (green wavy body with big elk hair hackle was killer) and a number of different duns. Here are a few pictures. Trees are growing in, water is low, and the fishing is getting tight. Next the weeds roll in and the river gets funny. Beautiful night. Picked up a defender shot gun on the way out. Ready for the back country if the weather ever cooperates and the snow melts. See you boys soon!

Beware!

Beware fellow JBFC members and guests, you have a quazy mainland BC'er/ColeHarourer (Way to go Crosby)/Eastern Shorian/Albertan heading to NB to take the trophy. Better get your game face on! Yes I know, he looks just like me and I now fish with a sword.
11:45 pm Saturday night. Must make plans to catch large fish before sleeping. Aslo, have same problem as Ryan in that I can get them on the fly but can't get them to the net. Not much different than highschool!

Need final numbers on who is going to make it to JBFC 09'

I needed to know if all 12 guys are coming on the trip for sure so I can get a final # on how many welcome packages we need. As far as I know this is who is in for sure;

Phil
Ryan
Trem's
Shawn
Joe
Mark
Barrie
Mike
Horace

I need to know if Matt, Jeffy and Ronnie are coming for sure, help me out boys. Leave a comment in the comments of this post if you know if any of these guys are still in. Thanks.

Need to think it through....

Grey Hound cost for both boats insured to Fredericton is $380 each way. Higher than I thought. Even split 5 ways is $75 each. Now there stuck in NB. Any ideas?

Taking Reservations. VACANCY

I have one reservation for an over night trip on one of these bad boys. They hit a Grey Hound bus this week headed for Fredericton. Two new lake/river pontoon boats. Open to anyone of us when available. Never used but after looking at them today, top of the line. Can't wait. Might want to think about reserving for an evening lake fish?

Reservation #1
Shawn Christiansen & Jason Tremblay
Over night drop up river to end next day at camp.
A trip to include large trout, discovering tributaries
off the river, wild life (not Joe's kind), good
conversation, and maybe a drinky drink!
Probably Monday to Tuesday. 1st reservation, 1st
choice of dates. No reason a canoe can't come along.

Reservation #2
(leave in comment section)

Getting Ready....Watch Out

With less than a month to go, it's all I'm thinking about. Starting to get my gear together. I'm a little concerned with my lack of fishing this year. Jason however seems to be getting in a lot of practice. Actually landing a good number of 2009 fish. That will come in handy when larger trout are an option in NB. The rest of us will probably over react and miss the first 10 fish.

26 Days to Go!

Well I must say that things are shaping up good. The resent photo Joe provided of the camp have us all looking forward to time on the river. I see that people have been doing some research online in hopes to get a few good pointer that could help get their name on the trophy for 2009.

The latest:

- Shawn found Mark on NBflyfishing with his pants down holding a big fish.
- Jay almost got F$@+ed by a black bear.
- Ryan and Horace found Barrie online begging for fishing help.
- Joe had a chance to pre fish but pre drank instead.
- Shawn has hired a guide to mark each honey hole with orange flagging tape.
- Ronnie and Horace have been asked to flatten Ryans tires on Friday night.
- Matt J said that he can out Jig both Mark and Ryan in the fishing wader dance

Should be interesting!!!

My turn.....

Hit this website and check it out. Mark and I are
on the hunt for information. I also attached a
few pictures to my discussion you may
appreciate?

http://nbflyfishing.ning.com/

Don't be afraid to share information Marky!

Marky, I finally found a few minutes to sign up to the web site I found about fly fishing in New Brunswick, hoping to get a few tips I could keep to myself and maybe use to my advantage against you book trout experts. Little did I know that your smiley face would be staring at me in on the members page. Tricky!

Now that the cat is out of the bag, and that you clearly state in your message to the rest of the members in New Brunswick that you would like tips to share with your fellow JBFC brothers, I expect we'll hear back from you with your findings?

PS - What is that fish your holding? Is that a chain picky? Could that be a Shubie fish? Man, that's one big pickeral for NS. So much for the bass, trout, sea trout, or strippers in that system.

Bug Slinger

Thank you to Bug Slinger for throwing in two hats in addition to my order of prizes for the JBFC 2009. You are the first company to come through for us and it means a lot. We appreciate a small company with little budget for things like this to understand the importance of your customers. I'm sure the guys will be excited to win some of your stuff. I am very impressed with the quality.

2009 JBFC "Sign It"

I usually try to bring something we can all sign. I thought this year we'd go with a very old Jim Beam bottle that once signed Barry can bring back to his camp on the St. Mary's and put on a a shelf. I bought it on eBay and have had it sent to Phil's house. All we need now is the permanent marker.
