End of the Fishing Season in near.

Sadly I will be away until Thursday, missing the rest of our salmon season. Shawn and I will be dealing with some Scotia Lures business and then finishing out the fishing season in Alberta. We are hoping to get out for some big brown, Cutts and Bull's.

Name change

We have in the past talked about a name change. Does anyone have any ideas? How could a new name benefit us? Does anyone think we should keep things how they are? What about name that could be used for the group of us , but we would still have the JBFC trip???

If people could come up with some names we could but them to vote.

JBFC 2008 Location Notice

To all JBFC International Union Members,

Due to the recent developments of the new JBFC headquarters located on the St.Mary's River in eastern Nova Scotia ,it has been requested by brother Reid that the 10th annual JBFC be held at his newly aquired cottage. The date of the trip will be from June 11th to June 15th pending on the unions agreement of these dates. This will allow for us to fish for salmon as well as trout. Rain Dance

If everyone could do one of these rain dances a few times this week we should be ok. I'd like to see Bucksaw and Horning do this in waders!

The inside "SCOOP"

I had a meeting with Mr.X and he gave me some juicy info about West and East river Pictou and some spots to try on West River Antigonish. This info will only be divulged to person's pouring me the finest of dark rum with ice on Friday night. Mr. X has fished these pools with a good success rate and told me that he was @ the ^%$*#@**^% pool last Saturday morning and said we should pray for rain but there was enough holding water as of then.

So start the Rain dances boy's!

Water levels

Here is a website worth watching this week. The rain is off and on in the forecast, let's see what it does.

East River Trip Info

This is the pray for rain trip! Water levels are very low, start rain dancing!

"HI Guys: Hope your getting as excited as I am about the fishing weekend. The weather has been great the past few days. I am going down to the river on Saturday morning to see if there are any rises. Jason you can bring any of your "special" flies, but two of the best for the East River are the old standby the "Mickey Finn" and the "General Practitioner" really works well on this river. You can use it in the rusty colour or black.

You only need to bring your fishing gear and what ever you want to drink and any special snacking food you need. I will supply the steaks, bacon and all the other food. We can have a big Card game in the evening.

I am just above the river and the best pools are close by. It would be nice if Ryan could come.

So let me know what time you think you will be arriving on Friday.

Looking forward to a great weekend of fishing and fun.
-Barrie"

So who is confirmed to be going?

As soon as people know next week, we should figure out how many vehicles are going up and when. I would like to go up early on Friday if anyone is interested?

Antigonish West River Pre-trip

Ryan and I got back from the west river in Antigonish today. Had a great trip.

Day 1: Fished down from the HWY 7 Bridge West River. I got into a 20+ grilse the first day, stung him once, cast to him again and had him on for a few runs some head shakes. Lost him while getting the camera ... a likely story!

Day 2: Fished down from the mall, met a JBFC fan smoking on the bank. Water was low, got nothing. Fished up from the HWY 104 bridge to where we came down to the day before ...NADA. Went back over to the HWy 7 bridge and Ryan hooked a brookie, fought the pre-schooler and did a hands-free release. Just before dark one or two bigger fish did some high flyers and gave us the finger!

Day 3: Got up early, went to stalk some of those buggers, fished the long run. NADA. Went down stream and fished some of the riffles, driffed a few rocks and found taker, 2 drifts, switched flies, two more and BINGO! Had a few nice runs, Ryan grabbed him for me, got a few photos and did a slippery hand release. Nice fish 17 - 18" Sea Run brown??

"Boat Wine"

We have to make sure we have lots of boat wine for our salmon trip in 2 weeks cause I heard that Ryan can drink Philly under the boat when it comes to the dark and hairy! Ryan, if you look closly at this picture I think Phil is winking at you saying,"bring it on little man, the sea's a dark and dirty place to be matie".
