Day #2

Day #2 was a cold and very windy one, a day only us hardcore fisherman come out on. Ryan and I had a great day, only one 12" inch brookie but met up with some great folks and learned of a few new hot spots. One day to go and hope we can land a big one. I hope Mark and Jason realize that it's only 8 days until 6 months with no fishing!! Shawn and Barrie, we have some JBFC members that may need some guidance in their fishing lives...... Please advise them.

First deer with a bow

Guess I won't be shooting a deer down the camp this year. Got this 4 pointer Tuesday night and had to retrive him Wednesday morning. My season is done, but I'm still looking forward to going to the camp with the rest of the JBFC hunter's.

Day#1 Salmon Trip 2008

Day #1: October is now upon us and that means that it's time for the fall salmon trip. Day one has treated us well, on the drive up we stopped in New Glasgow (Fergusons Store) to buy a few select flys. Then we had a quick stop near Beaver Meadows to check the water levels and show Ryan where the hot spot was. Made our way to the west river, before Ryan had a fly on I had a nice little 10" brookie on. Walked and fished for a bit and fraught with the wind. Talked to an old timer and gave us the river update. Next we headed downstream to a place just up from the mall. Got another nice brookie and had a nice grilse on to the reel before the 30' head shake release. Ryan then had a 30' one bump release I think it's called.
We now are in for the night, dinner is on the stove, wood stove on, beer in hand, and rum in the near future! Stay tuned to Day#2!!

The JBFC Biggest Fish Trophy Past Champions

The trophy has been engraved with this years champion Shawn Christiansen. Also the 2007 champion correction has been made.

PS- Jay, Glady, the lady who does our engraving work, said to me, " I put Jason's old plate in the cup of the trophy in case he would like it as a keepsake", as she snickered to herself. It was funny.

Our "Wild and Crazy" Barrie!

Our buddy Barrie recently had a bad motorcycle accident and banged himself up pretty bad. He should be able to make a full recovery. He broke a hand and all the fingers on the other hand. I'm sure he got some bumps and brushes too. From all of the JBFC boys we hope you get back in fishing shape soon.
PS- We know your pushing 60 so we'll have to wrap you up in foam or bubble wrap on the JBFC trips from now on because we're not sure how many lives you have left!
hope your feeling better soon; and all I can say is your lucky you have a hot wife to nurse you back to good health.

Weekend Report from River Oaks Camp

Barrie, Mike, Jay and myself went to the camp to cut up some wood for next years winter and to relax. That's exactly what we did! We got about a cord and a half to two cords cut and ready to be split.

Jay got a chance to put his tree stand up for the hunting season as well. Real nice spot too.

All of us got into a few games of darts in the "new" and improved shed/tavern. You boys better brush up on your dart playing skills or you be getting your asses whooped!

The landscaping good Barrie had done at the camp is great. Lots of parking room and the fire pit is excellent!
Also took the trophy home to be engraved with this years winner (and last years).

til next time,

Bucksaw
