Once In a Bluemoon

A friend sent me a link to this video. We should be doing our own.

Fall photos of the Gully

Smith and I took a quick trip down to load some wood.
Not much work was done this weekend but we did get out for a nice morning and evening fish at the gully.

Annual Salmon trip to East River Oct. 17th-18th weekend!

Time to get the ball rolling on the salmon trip up to Barrie's boys! I propose Oct 17th-18th. Maybe stay @ the camp this year and drive back to the river or stay @ Barrie's chalet on the hill right next to the river. Let us know what you think Barrie. Hope this is a good weekend because it's probably the only one I can make. For a change lets get into some fish.

tight lines,

Mark

PS- I haven't got to use my new salmon rod yet and I'm chomping @ the bit to try her out!

Clearwater

Lazy Poster

First off, I have still yet to get my new pontoon boat in to water this year. What the hell? It has been a busy year of working and kids and very little fishing. I managed to get out on the North Prairie a few weeks back and recently Stauffer and the Clearwater. Usually on my way home from a plant. I had a great 2 hours on North Prairie. Landed 20 or so fish from 13 - 22 inches. Mostly browns but a couple brookies. The picture below is the large brown. All on the surface with stimulators. Missed two ther very large fish that took a run out from under the banks but missed the fly.......or hit the fly and I missed the flish! I'll let you decide. The brown on its side with the wooly bugger is off the Clearwater. Got rained out. I didn't take any pictures on Staufer but caught around 10 fish. A couple over 20 inches. Missed a monster who was deep up a beaver run. And......broke another rod trying to pull al large brown out of the weeds!

PS - You are all lazy with posting as well!

Annual Salmon fishing trip @ River Oaks Camp!

I think we are all in need of another annual trip right dab smack in the middle of salmon season. I propose we start next June/July and call it the 1st annual "Salmon Snipers Weekend". This should give us a another chance to get together and do some fishing. I think having the second trip will give us a better chance of getting into some good fishing wherever we go. Let me know what ya'll think about having 2 trips a year.

Fishing Sucks!

I have had a bad year fishing. Being busy has not helped. The few times I've been able to get out I've been hit with menacing phone calls, tight time lines, heavy wind and rain, or high water. I'd like to hear some good stories. Someone post something positive. I had a great time on the Chungo, Brown, and Blackstone rivers with Ryan and hope to improve on that trip on August 12th when I'm back in that area for one night. Anyone else having fun?

2009 JBFC Biggest Fish Champion

Photo: Phil in Alberta with a nice cutty!

The winner of this years biggest fish trophy was Phil Hatcher. He took home the prize with a nice 11 inch trout. Phil will be presented the "Nathan Smith Memorial Trophy" during our next trip to River Oaks Camp. Congrats to Phil on becoming the first 3-time winner of the contest.
