Stauffer - September 14, 2010

Stopped by Stauffer after leaving the Strachan Gas Plant. Afternoon fish, cloudy with sunny patches, and no one around. Perfect. Browns are changing colours this time of year and building their hook jaws. I caught all males. Landed three from 18-21" and had a monster follow my fly in 2" of water downstream as it drifted for at least 10 feet, last second he went for it and missed. Would have been an awesome video. Good hatch of small black flies keeping the all fish busy on the surface. I went with a big black (colour to match the small flies in the hatch) and orange bellied grass hopper. All yarn and no foam. It kept the small fish away and enticed the big ones. Wish one of you was there to enjoy in the fun. Two hour fish and one of the best this year.
